ANNOUNCER: AMAURY PI-GONZALEZ

Amaury Pi-González, a pioneer in establishing Spanish baseball radio play-by-play in the Bay Area, enters his 35th season in Major League Baseball and is the “Voice of the A’s” for all Spanish broadcasts. He began his career in 1977 with the Athletics, and has also broadcast for the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels. For a second straight year, he is also doing selected games for the Angels on Fox Sports Network West.

He has called the 1988, 1989 and 1990 World Series for the A’s and the 2002 Series for the Giants. He previously served five years as sports anchor for Telemundo TV48, the Spanish voice for the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers. He was also the English voice for the Caribbean World Series for Fox Sports International in 2001 and 2002.

Pi-González is an elected member of the Cuban Sports Hall of Fame, the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Hall of Fame and the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame.

ANNOUNCER: MANOLO HERNANDEZ-DOUEN

Manolo Hernández-Douen, a long-time sportswriter, begins his fourth season as an A’s analyst. He boasts more than 41 years of experience in journalism, and has covered a variety of sports during that span. The Caracas, Venezuela native has reported on Olympic and Pan American Games, world championship boxing matches and winter league baseball, including the Carribean World Series.

He was Venezuela’s Sportswriter ol the Year in 1979 and for five seasons was the basketball analyst for the Caracas Liga Especial de Baloncesto team.

Since moving to California in 1982, Hernández-Douen has covered the NBA and MLB for several of the highest circulation newspapers in the United States, including La Opinión in Los Angeles as well as serving as the Sports Editor for El Nuevo Herald in Maimi from 2000-2007.

Jose has been the broadcast engineer for KIQI/KATD and the Oakland A’s since 2013. He is the Founder and Director of several youth soccer programs in the Bay Area including InterAmerica Soccer League, Pony Soccer League Mix and Project Twins – a program developed and sponsored by international institutions such as the Salvadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and INDES (National Institute of Sports in El Salvador.)

Jose was a sports correspondent for “Punto Deportivo” covering international events such as World Cup Mexico (1986), World Cup US (1994) World Cup France (1998) and the XIX Caribbean and Central American Student Games in San Salvador (2002.)

Jose currently airs the weekly radio program Deportes 1010 on KIQI 1010 & KATD 990. He’s been living in the Bay Area since 1979 and graduated from the University of El Salvador with a degree in Communications and Publicity.
